Remote FortiDevice by EnBITCon GmbH
The world of work is constantly changing and developing. Just 100 years ago, people moved en masse to the cities in the course of industrialisation. They made their way to and from their jobs every day, which was instrumental in the formation of our large cities that exist today. Over time, this kind of work has become more and more firmly established and has become an integral part of working life. But these times are also beginning to change. With the creation of the internet and the unstoppable progress, we have found new ways to break the old chains and change the world of work in many areas. We have managed that many people no longer have to do their jobs directly at the workplace and have the possibility to contribute from thousands of kilometres away without losing the efficiency that prevailed before.
Such incredible steps would have been unthinkable just a few years ago and are based on the rapid development of our technology. With the new possibilities, however, come new challenges and dangers, which have to be overcome.
- How do I manage to relieve my employees and let them work from home?
- How do I secure the devices that my employees can use to access my data from anywhere in the world?
- How can I ensure the same efficiency as when working on site?
- What costs will I incur as a result of such changes?
Fortinet's mission is to answer as many of these questions as possible and to generate a solution that combines progress, security and efficiency.
The Remote FortiDevice has been specially designed for a cost-effective VPN connection for a home office workplace. The great advantage of this solution lies in the possibility of handling the central management via a FortiGate and thus managing your WLAN infrastructure via it. The device has four internal antennas.
The connection to a FortiGate can be established with AES256 bit encryption via the IPSec protocol. This means that the connection is not only secure, but can also be processed hardware-accelerated by the FortiGate with the help of the Fortinet Content Processor (CP). Thus, a real VPN throughput rate of up to 20 MBit/s can be achieved. An option for so-called split-tunnelling, i.e. the division of data traffic between the VPN connection to the company network and directly to the Internet, is also possible.
No additional licensing is required for setting up a WLAN network or operating the VPN connection. This only results in costs for the purchase. However, we recommend a FortiCare support licence for the FortiGate firewall in order to receive support from the manufacturer and firmware updates.
The Access Point is designed to be mounted on a wall, optionally a stand is available on request for placing on a desk.
We advise you and accompany you, from planning to execution.
We offer certified technicians with expertise who will not only set up the solution for you, but also teach you how to manage your solution independently - for example, to connect additional access points.
We create a configuration on your FortiGate firewall remotely, which enables a zero-touch deployment of the remote FortiDevice. This means that an administrator or technician does not have to hold the device in their hands at any time. For example, it can be delivered directly to an employee. The employee only has to connect the device. The access point then connects automatically to the FortiGate and establishes the encrypted connection to the company network.
