What does WLAN illumination cost?
On our own behalf
The costs for professional WLAN illumination cannot be generalised off the cuff and, without taking a look at the WLAN infrastructure concerned, come very close to the "famous look into a crystal ball".
First of all, the type and reason for the WLAN illumination or WLAN measurement must be known, as well as the affected area. Of course, the time required by the technicians plays an important role here, as WLAN coverage is calculated on the basis of the time spent working. If a WLAN measurement is to be carried out on an existing WLAN infrastructure, the effort is not too great, as the area only needs to be "walked" with the required equipment. Afterwards, results and graphical signal representations can be documented in a report.
Much more time-consuming would be, for example, a reference measurement based on a WLAN plan, which is to confirm the predicted signal strength of the planned access points before installing the components. Here, the time required is significantly higher, as reference access points must be mounted at the planned locations with the help of tripods and consequently only the signal range of these reference access points can be checked on foot. As a rule, such measurements are carried out with about 4 reference access points. If, for example, a WLAN plan is to be referenced on the basis of a total of 20 access points, an installation or measurement procedure is repeated 5 times. Here, too, measurement results flow into a documentation that is intended to serve the customer or later installers as a WLAN infrastructure manual or installation manual. Nevertheless, in this case the simplest basis for calculating the costs of WLAN illumination can be obtained, since any parameters (such as area, room layout, number of access points, etc.) are already defined or at least roughly known through previous WLAN planning and documentation.
All in all, there are no rules of thumb or official tables that can provide an exact representation of WLAN illumination costs. However, the EnBITCon GmbH team, with the help of certified and qualified WLAN engineers, will be happy to help you with advice and assistance in calculating the costs of your WLAN measurement. Based on relevant experience and WLAN projects that have already been carried out, we can provide you with an estimate of the costs incurred for your WLAN illumination or even specify these as part of a quotation.

Marcel Zimmer is the Technical Managing Director of EnBITCon. During his time in the German Armed Forces, the trained IT developer was able to gain numerous project experiences. His interest in IT security was significantly awakened by his service in command support. Even after his service, he is an active reservist in the Bundeswehr.
His first firewall was a Sophos UTM 120, which he had to set up for a customer project. Since then, his interest in IT security has grown steadily. In the course of time, various security and infrastructure topics have come into his focus. His most interesting projects included, for example, WLAN coverage in an explosion-proof area, as well as a multi-site WLAN solution for a large
