Ruckus Networks - Ruckus H550 and T350 released
Ruckus T350, Wifi6, H550
Ruckus Networks has released 2 new access points this month: the Ruckus H550 and Ruckus T350. With these, Ruckus now also wants to deliver WiFi 6 access points for the hospitality industry and demanding outdoor operations.
The Ruckus H550 access point provides very high bandwidth to rooms, enabling hotels, flats and other commercial establishments to deliver multiple Ultra HD video streams, IPTV, virtual reality, VoIP and ultra-fast downloads alongside support for IoT endpoints and associated applications such as connected-entry and personal alerts.
With its sleek, compact form factor and integrated switch ports, the Ruckus H550 can be discreetly hidden behind or next to cabinets, desks or TVs and offers PoE pass-through for VoIP phones, for example.
However, WiFi 6 itself also offers significant advantages over the usual WiFi 5 (802.11ac). These are listed briefly:
- WiFi 6 (802.11ax) will achieve on average a good 35-40% faster throughput rates than its predecessor WiFi 5 (802.11ac) even under the same conditions.
- It is also very battery-saving due to TWT (Target Wake Time) for devices that also support WiFi 6, as it only uses the WLAN module when something really needs to be done actively with it.
- In the new WLAN generation, the channels are also used more efficiently, which means that there is almost no more channel interference - this feature is called OFDMA.

Ruckus has also introduced the Ruckus T350. This means high-performance connectivity for demanding outdoor environments in a compact form factor, so it meets the aesthetic requirements of smart spaces, community Wi-Fi installations, airports and other large public venues. In addition to its built-in IoT capabilities, the T350 has a USB port to support additional wireless protocols. The T350 is designed to withstand the harshest outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures, humidity, wind, salt and fog.
The new access points, like all other RUCKUS access points and switches, serve as data sources for Ruckus Analytics' artificial intelligence (AI)- and machine learning (ML)-enabled network analytics capabilities, which are deployed in networks managed by the Ruckus Cloud and SmartZone-OS-based network controllers.
