Your provider is offering you new and faster DSL rates with speeds of up to 1000 MBit/s? If so, these are usually connections with so-called Supervectoring Profile 35b, a new DSL technology that enables high bandwidths by using highly efficient vectoring techniques and an expansion of the frequency spectrum. In order to be able to use these, however, high-quality hardware is required.
With the further development of highly efficient vectoring techniques and an expansion of the frequency spectrum, higher bandwidths are made possible by means of G.Fast technology. However, in order to be able to use these, high-quality hardware is required that has corresponding hardware chipsets.
The Vigor167 serves VDSL/supervectoring/G.Fast connections.
Please note additionally that due to the discontinuation of ADSL support on the Vigor167, there is now no longer a separate Annex-A and Annex-B variant, as this only affected ADSL spectrums.
On delivery, the Vigor167 is a pure modem. If desired, the administrator can reconfigure the device, within the web interface, as a router. Here, the Vigor166 then has an integrated SPI firewall, port forwarding, DHCP server and other features.
