Aerohive / Extreme Networks - New WiFi 6 capable APs available
On our own behalf
After Aerohive was taken over by Extreme Networks at the end of last year, the new cooperation is bearing its first fruits. With the new WiFi 6 capable access points for entry-level, high-end and even outdoor applications.
The new entry-level model is the AP305C/305CX series, which has both internal and external antennas. You can choose between mixed operation with 2.4GHz and 5GHz, or operate both radios with 5GHz. In addition, an internal Bluetooth antenna is also built in. In any case, you have a transmission rate of up to 2.4 gigabits per second with 2x2:2 streams per radio. At the same time, support for WPA3 is not to be missed. Despite all this, the access point only requires 802.3af PoE with a maximum consumption of 16.28 watts when the USB port is used and a maximum of 11.28 watts when the USB port is not used.
This means that the access point can be easily integrated into existing network infrastructures without having to make expensive investments for a modern WLAN.
The AP410 series is the new top model, again optionally with internal or external antennas, as well as an internal Bluetooth antenna. A radio with 2.4 GHz, a radio with 5 GHz and a dual-band radio are available. Transmission rates of up to 4.8 gigabits per second are possible for each radio. As with the 305 series, WPA3 support is available. With a power consumption of up to 21.7 watts with USB port use or 18.7 watts without USB port use, this access point can also be easily operated with conventional 802.3at PoE switches.
Finally, the AP460 series is even available as a WiFi 6-capable outdoor access point. The device can withstand wind speeds of up to 265km/h and thus even a hurricane. You can also choose between internal or external antennas for this series. With its IP67 protection class, this access point is even suitable for adverse environments - regardless of whether the ambient temperature is as low as -40°C or as high as 60°C. Despite the robust design, performance does not have to be sacrificed. As with the AP410 series, you can transmit data at up to 4.8 gigabits per second per radio. As with the AP410 series, 802.3at PoE is sufficient to operate the device without restrictions.
