New user demands and technological advances are putting increasing pressure on campus networks, requiring them to scale to support more devices and deliver more bandwidth. Rapid growth in wireless traffic, accelerated by the adoption of 802.11ac and 802.11ax Wi-Fi, is driving the migration from 1GbE to multigigabit in access and increasing the need for faster networks in the aggregation and core.

Companies are growing rapidly, requiring always-on, reliable, high-speed connections to the cloud and leading to downsizing of data centres for which most large chassis/routers are oversized and too complex and expensive to deploy.
