The FortiWLC-VM optimises traffic across Fortinet's controller-based access points and clients to support high density and performance while meeting the mission-critical wireless connectivity needs of enterprises. The FortiWLC-VM optimises client distribution and channel utilisation in both single and multi-channel deployments, maximising efficiency to make the most of available wireless spectrum.

In single-channel technology, all access points operate on the same channel, enabling ubiquitous coverage and making clients appear to be a single access point no matter where they are located. In addition, the controller controls how and when clients roam, not the client itself.

When ARRP (Automatic Radio Resource Provisioning) is enabled, the controller continuously monitors the frequency environment for interference, noise and signals from neighbouring APs, allowing the FortiWLC-VM to determine the optimal frequency power levels for each AP in the network.
