Fortinet FortiGate 700G & 701G – High-End Next-Generation Firewalls for Maximum Security and Performance
With the FortiGate 700G and FortiGate 701G, Fortinet presents two high-performance firewalls that combine state-of-the-art network security technologies with outstanding performance. Both models are ideal for medium to large enterprises, data centers, and organizations that want to reliably protect their IT infrastructure against cyber threats – all while delivering the highest data rates and minimal latency.
Thanks to the powerful SPU NP7 and CP10 hardware acceleration, the devices enable uncompromising real-time security inspection without impacting network speed. The high port density with SFP28, SFP+, and RJ45 interfaces ensures maximum flexibility when integrating into existing or new networks. Redundant AC power supplies also ensure uninterrupted operation – even in the event of a power supply failure.
The difference between the two models lies in the integrated storage: While the FortiGate 700G is designed for classic firewall tasks, the FortiGate 701G additionally features a 960 GB SSD. This provides valuable storage space for extensive logging, analysis, and caching, which is particularly beneficial in security-critical environments.

A component of every FortiGate firewall is, among others, the free use of IPSec VPN. Here the free FortiClient VPN can be used as VPN client. Instructions for setting up the VPN can be found in the FortiGate CookBook, among other places.
Thanks to the Fortigate VDOM functionality, you have the option of making your firewall multi-tenant. Thus, you can operate your own firewalls for different departments in a very granular way.
With the Fortinet Support (included as FortiCare in every license bundle), you get the possibility to contact the manufacturer directly in case of problems or questions. Among other things, this support license is also necessary for obtaining and downloading firmware updates.
