Ruckus R850 Access Point
The Ruckus R850 is based on the latest 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard and bridges the performance gap from 'gigabit' Wi-Fi to 'multi-gigabit' Wi-Fi to support the insatiable demand for better and faster Wi-Fi.The RUCKUS R850 is our highest capacity dual-band, dual-concurrent Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP), which supports 12 spatial streams (8x8:8 at 5GHz, 4x4:4 at 2.4GHz).
The End User WatchDog Support Per SmartZone/ virtual SmartZone AccessPoint licence gives you the option of licensing and supporting the access points connected to your controller. This licence includes first-class technical support from Ruckus around the clock, 365 days a year. It also includes important software updates and upgrades specifically for your access points.
Please note that this licence is only valid for the connected access points. A separate licence must be purchased for support of the controller itself. It is recommended to purchase licences with a similar duration to simplify administration during renewals and ensure smooth operation.
With this licence, you can ensure that your access points are always up to date and that you have reliable technical support at hand to solve potential problems quickly and efficiently. It provides comprehensive support for your wireless infrastructure and enables you to maximise the performance of your network components.

Based on the latest 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard, the Ruckus R850 bridges the performance gap from 'Gigabit' Wi-Fi to 'Multi-Gigabit' Wi-Fi to support the insatiable demand for better and faster Wi-Fi.The RUCKUS R850 is our highest capacity dual-band, dual-concurrent Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP) that supports 12 spatial streams (8x8:8 at 5GHz, 4x4:4 at 2.4GHz). The R850 with OFDMA, TWT and MU-MIMO capabilities efficiently manages up to 1,024 client connections with increased capacity, enhanced coverage and performance in ultra-high density environments.
In addition, a 5 Gbps multi-gigabit Ethernet port reduces backhaul capacity bottlenecks.
In addition, the R850 is IoT and LTE ready and supports wireless standards beyond Wi-Fi when combined with the RUCKUS IoT Suite and our CBRS/OpenG modules.
The R850 meets increasing customer demands in transportation hubs, auditoriums and stadiums, conference centers and other high-traffic indoor spaces. It is the perfect choice for data-intensive streaming multimedia applications such as 4K video transmissions, with latency-sensitive voice and data applications with stringent quality-of-service requirements.
Combined with the Ruckus Ultra-High-Density Technology Suite, found only in the Ruckus Wi-Fi portfolio, the R850 dramatically improves network performance through a combination of patented wireless innovations and learning algorithms:
- Airtime Decongestion: Increases average network throughput in highly congested environments
- Transient Client Management: Reduces interference traffic from disconnected Wi-Fi devices
- BeamFlex+ antennas: Extended coverage and optimized throughput with patented multi-directional antennas and radio patterns
Whether you deploy ten APs or ten thousand, the R850 is also easy to manage through the Ruckus appliance and virtual management options.
Your advantages:
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES AT THE SAME TIME
Improve device performance by enabling more simultaneous device connections with integrated 12 spatial streams (8x8:8 in 5GHz, 4x4:4 in 2.4GHz), MU-MIMO and OFDMA technology. - ULTRA-HIGH-DENSITY-PERFORMANCE
Provides an exceptional end-user experience in stadiums, large public venues, convention centers and schoolyards with the Ruckus Ultra-High-Density Technology Suite. - INCREASED SECURITY
Upgrade to the latest Wi-Fi security standard with WPA3 and get enhanced protection from man-in-the-middle attacks in the safest way possible. - MULTI-GIGABIT-ACCESS SPEEDS
Optimized multi-gigabit Wi-Fi performance delivered via integrated 5GbE/2.5GbE Ethernet ports for connection to multi-gigabit switches. - OPTIONS FOR DEVICE MANAGEMENT
Manage the R730 with physical/virtual devices in the field and control automated provisioning for faster deployment and seamless firmware upgrades. - BETTER MESH NETWORKING
Minimize complexity by reducing expensive cabling with SmartMesh™, which dynamically creates self-forming, self-healing mesh networks. - AUTOMATE THE OPTIMAL THROUGHPUT
ChannelFly™ dynamic channel technology uses machine learning to automatically find the least congested channels. You always get the highest throughput the band can support.. - MORE THAN WI-FI
Support services übeyond Wi-Fi with Ruckus IoT Suite, Cloudpath security and onboarding software, SPoT Wi-Fi location engine and SCI network analysis.
The Unleashed Access Point does not require a dedicated controller to create and manage a WLAN network. Instead, one of the APs acts as a master, taking on the functions of a controller and managing the other APs as members. The unleashed access points are suitable for smaller WLAN deployments where only a small number of access points are required. Leashed access points, on the other hand, require an external controller, such as a ZoneDirector or a SmartZone, to create and manage a WLAN network. The Leashed APs are suitable for larger WLAN deployments where a large number of APs are required.
